Dixon Farmers Market opens May 7

The Dixon Farmers Market will open for its first time this season on Saturday. This also happens to be the same day as the Dixon May Fair Parade, so show up early!  The market will open at 8 a.m. and close at noon.

The produce at the Farmers Market is locally grown and picked vine ripe for you.  You do not get this kind of quality at large grocery stores as the crops are picked early because they need to be processed and shipped. 

Supporting local farms is also important from a sustainability and security point of view.  Local food takes less energy to get to market, more of the money from the sale actually makes it into the Farmers pocket and this adds food security on a local level.

This year you should be able to buy local organic free range eggs, fruits, vegetables, honey, lavender and the list goes on.
