Youth Ag Day at Solano County Fairgrounds

We need your help by sponsoring or volunteering at one of our community's most worthy events - Youth Ag Day.

This marks the twelfth year of Youth Ag Day, hosted by the Solano County Fairgrounds.  Youth Ag Day offers a unique educational experience for third grade students in Solano County on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.  Over 2,500 third graders participated last year and currently over 3,000 are signed up to attend this year.  This event provides an opportunity for students to learn about the important contributions agriculture makes to their lives in an educational and fun environment.

Youth Ag Day is a collaborative effort of dedicated volunteers along with local farms, ranchers, businesses and agriculture agencies to provide informative and interactive displays for the students in a field trip format.  Exhibit presentations include a wide-range of topics including sheep herding, the dairy industry, farm equipment, cattle herding, composting, recycling, water management, the benefits of insects, good nutrition, and many other aspects of farm life.

This rewarding, educational outing is free of charge to all the classes who attend. However, the classes do have to provide their own transportation.  A sponsorship of $500 will subsidize the cost of one bus to transport the students to this event.  Any monetary amount would be appreciated, and would help support this event.  All sponsors' names are listed on several banners displayed around the Fairgrounds during the event and your donation is tax deductible.

We hope you will be a sponsor and/or a volunteer for Youth Ag Day this year by completing and returning the "Ag Day Helping Hands" form. The form can be found at: www.SCFair.org. Click the Ag Day icon, then the sponsor/volunteer icons. Please feel to share copies of the form with your friends, we can never have too much help. The third grade students of Solano County thank you in advance for your support.
