A Vacaville man was arrested early Tuesday morning in Santa Rosa for his 17th driving with a suspended license offense, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Claudell Jack Jr., 57, was driving a Chrysler Sebring west on College Avenue around 1:25 a.m. when he made a sudden left turn in front of a Volkswagen driving east on College Avenue, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

The Volkswagen braked suddenly and the Chrysler drove west in the right lane of eastbound College Avenue, Sloat said.

Jack was belligerent and appeared intoxicated when the CHP officer stopped the Chrysler, and a records check revealed he was on probation for five DUI convictions in the past 10 years in Solano County, Sloat said.

Four of the five DUI convictions happened in the past two years, and Jack has 16 previous suspensions of his license, Sloat said.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving with a suspended license, violation of probation and driving a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device, Sloat said.

The device was ordered by a Solano County Superior Court judge in April 2012, according to court records.
