Morning View to Offer Land Owners $100K per Acre Next Week

June 19, 2013: Carissa Carpenter reported, today, that Morning View is nearly finished working with investors on new purchase agreements, and will be offering city land owners $100,000 per acre, hopefully by next week.

“We are not done, we are not going away,” she said, “the negativity has reinforced our enthusiasm about our project, not scared us off.”

Carpenter reports, the original signed purchase agreements expired due to a four week delay with one land owner’s tax issues, and because their parcel will no longer be part of the land acquisition, a new map had to be drawn. In the time this phase has taken, land values have gone up from $50,000 per acre, to the new price being offered; in turn, the new budget needed to be reviewed and approved by investors.

“I want to clarify, we have a $2.8-Billion budget for this project over a 10-year period,” explains Carpenter, “first, we open escrow on the land, then, we pay the $100k to the City, then, $800M for construction of infrastructure, green energy and all the things that go inside a studio, and $200-500M for production funds, training, hiring, philanthropy, and other expenses. It takes a long time to spend that kind of money.”

The studio will be a union built project, and Carpenter promises that once escrow is opened, the website will be launched with many of the investor and filmmaker names.

“You wouldn't tell your employer you are quitting, before you know you have secured a new job; neither will our filmmakers,” she says, “We are not here to harm your City, and the city officials are doing their jobs properly, without spending your tax paying dollars. At the end of the day, we will be supporting and advancing the City’s economy and infrastructure.”
