Downtown Dixon's, Every Baking Moment celebrates it's own birthday today, 13 years since it's opening, July 10, 2000.
Many business owners have come and gone from downtown throughout the years, few with the staying power that Every Baking Moment owner, Janis Luzzo, has had.
Luzzo has shared her talent and love of edible art with countless decorators over the years, and is praised customer wide for her willingness to always share her knowledge.
"Janis is a great help," says local cake artist, Shawna Humphries, "Anytime I ever need help she is always there! I'm so glad I started classes with her six years ago."
Student Bella Day-Vega,9, told the Patch she has loved attending monthly children's cake decorating classes for the last five years. "I like learning the different techniques and getting to share my decorated cakes with my friends and family when I get home."
Every Baking Moment is a family affair for the Luzzo's; you will find Janis, her husband, Duane, and usually her two sons, Luc and Damien, at almost every DDBA, Chamber and City event. Their willingness to give back to the community has cemented their business and created life long friends along the way.
"I would have never imagined on my first evening, of my first cake decorating class that my instructor would become such an amazing, true to heart friend," boasted Jennifer Thompson, "Now, more than seven years later, even our husbands have become great friends."
Every Baking Moment celebrated the anniversary quietly this year, simply filling their classroom with balloons for their kids cake decorating class today.
