Do You Pay 50% More For Your Water Than Your Neighbor? You Might Be Surprised

Dixon residents sharing the same zip code and, in some cases, living on the same street, are paying different water rates, according to KCRA news.

People living in the Dixon Solano Water Authority service area pay one rate. And people who live in the older, center part of the city pay, on average, 50 percent more to the California Water Service according to the KCRA report.

They explain Cal Water was the original provider for the city, but decided not to expand its service area when Dixon expanded in 1978. That made it necessary for the city to acquire a second provider, which is currently DSWA.

And now Cal Water is proposing a 65 percent increase in water rates for the next three years.
