Council Say 'Yes' to Safe-and-Sane Fireworks
The Dixon City Council tonight approved the sale and use of Safe-and-Sane Fireworks within the city limits under a two-year pilot program
The Dixon City Council approved tonight the sale and use of Safe-and-Sane fireworks within the City of Dixon, becoming the second city in Solano County alongside Rio Vista to allow these type of fireworks.
A vote of 3-2 carried the motion presented by Councilman Dane Besneatte with Councilman Thom Bogue and Vice Mayor Michael Ceremello, voting to lift the 1970s ban on Safe-and-Sane fireworks within the city, and Councilman Rick Fuller and Mayor Jack Batchelor voting against it.
The decision paves the way for Dixon nonprofit groups to sell the state-approved fireworks to raise funds for their organizations. The council allowed the sale of the fireworks under a two-year pilot program that may or may not be revisited later by the council.
