Rams vs Rohnert Park Warriors: Tough Week for Dixon Youth Football (BLOG)

The Midgets team won easily, but the rest of our teams had a tougher time.

Mitey Mites

Rams 0 – Rohnert Park Warriors 23

It was a tough game for the Rams Mitey Mites.  Rohnert Park Warriors came out strong in the first half leading 23-0.  The Rams Defense – Josh Zamecnik, Josh Giardino, Jacob Albrecht, Carson King, Peyton Deweese, Chris Tibbett, Jackson Young, Daniel Lara, and Daniel Cannon - held strong in the second half not letting the Warriors score.  The boys played a great game and are preparing for their next opponent the Ukiah Lions.  GO RAMS!!

The JR Pee Wees played against a tough defense with the Rohnert Park Warriors.  Running backs Micah Scott-Kelly and Jalen Wabaunsee and full back Rigo Jimenez were able to gain yardage on each drive but were stopped short of the end zone by the Warriors defense.  The boys fought a hard battle and will face another tough opponent, the Ukiah Lions.  GO RAMS!!

Pee Wees

Rams 0 –Rohnert Park Warriors 31

The Dixon Ram Pee Wee's traveled to Rohnert Park over the weekend to face the Warriors. The kids we're prepared for a tough challenge but were held short of putting the ball in the end zone. The offensive line played tough through 4 long quarters. Zee McNally, Adrian Lugo, Gary Dockins and DJ Phillips were the front 4 with Marquis Davison & Ray Kavauka on the ends. Elton Wadlow, Tyler Boston, Ivan Contreras & MJ Kenion made up the backfield. Roger Coulture, Tre Brown, Chris Rinetti, Chase Grigsby & Hayden McClure also shared duties on the Ram Fast Strike line.

On the other side of the ball the Special Ops defensive unit could not hold off the Warriors getting into the end zone. The defense was made up of Ray Kavauka, Frank Young, Tyler Boston, Adrian Lugo, Zee McNally, MJ Kenion, Marquis Davison, DJ Phillips, Robert Sirrizotti, Ivan Contreras & Danny Rollin with Andrew Taylor, Devin Hejnicki, Ricardo and Damoni Bradley all doing their part trying to stop the Warriors offensive.

The Pee Wees are putting Sunday’s loss behind them and concentrating on Saturday’s game against the Ukiah Lions. GO RAMS!!

JR Midgets

Rams 24 – Rohnert Park Warriors 28

This week was a hard loss for the JR Midget team.  Rohnert Park put up a great battle but Dixon JR Midgets were not able to pull out the win. Rohnert Park received the ball first and drove down the field and scored first.  The RAMS were able to answer with a score to tie the game.  This back and forth of scoring continued the entire game.

The RAM offense fought against a tough Rohnert Park defense.  The O line - KC Holtemann, Michael Barnhill, George Fountain, Anthony Soucy, Johnnie Bryce, Terry Bruce and Dylan Blanton – played hard and made some big holes for the running backs: Jesse Camarillo, Jake Giardino, Kyle McMullen and Spencer Webb.  Quarterback Mitch Moniz threw the ball and ran the ball well all game.

The RAM defense played strong, but the Rohnert Park defense slowly gained yardage as they drove down the field. The RAM defense – Brevin Hensley, Jeremy Cristobal, Mace Moreno, Caleb Epperson, Tim Vidmar, Kaden Hensley, Jesse Camarillo, Joey Baker, Johnnie Bryce, Michael Barnhill, Terry Bruce, Anthony Soucy, Tim Richardson, – fought hard but just couldn’t stop their drive.

In the final seconds of the 4th quarter, the RAMS were on the 1 yard line and down by 4 points.  Moniz tried the QB sneak but the just could not make it across the goal line.  On 4th and goal, Jake Giardino received the ball and weaved in and out of defenders but came up just inches short.  A great battle out on the field and the RAMS fought tough, but unfortunately didn’t get the win.  We have a lot of work to do this week to get ready for Ukiah and look forward to another great weekend of great RAM football at home this Saturday.  Go RAMS!!

Midgets

Rams 37+ - Rohnert Park Warriors 9

This week our Midgets team was able to achieve a victory by focusing on the Special Teams battle and overcoming adversities throughout the game.  We knew going into the game that our opponent had several potential game breaking players, including perhaps the best punter/kicker in our league.

We kicked off and started on defense this week, then gave up a long drive and an early 6-point deficit.  On offense we moved the ball but eventually had to punt on our first series.  The first quarter ended with our Midgets behind 0-6.

Most of the first half involved a field position battle with several punts by both teams.  During the second quarter, the Warriors mounted a long drive but were held to a 31-yard field goal (attainable by only a few kickers at our age group).  This stop helped our team gain confidence, which soon resulted in a second quarter touchdown for the Rams.  Just prior to the second quarter ending, we had another long touchdown called back which left the Rams still behind 6-9 at the half.

We received the ball at the beginning of the 3rd quarter and started successfully moving the ball down the field on offense.  Several hard runs up the middle and the ability to break tackles in the open field helped our offense get back on track.

Several key special teams plays and defensive plays helped us take a 31-9 lead into the fourth quarter.  These included both a punt return for a touchdown and a pass interception for a touchdown.

Overall, the Midgets' defensive team played a stellar second half holding the Warriors out of the end zone in the 3rd and 4th quarters.  Our outside linebackers and cornerbacks played a solid game, coming up to make several tackles on outside running plays.  An offensive touchdown in the 4th quarter put the game into scrimmage.  We look forward to playing the Ukiah Lions at home this Saturday.  Go RAMS!!

Rams Cheerleaders

The Rams Cheerleaders did well supporting their teams and leading the cheering crowds.  The JR Pee Wee, JR Midget and Midget cheerleaders all performed outstanding half-time routines!  GO RAMS!!

Up next for the Dixon Youth Rams are the Ukiah Lions on Saturday, September 1 at the Old Dixon High School football field.  Games begin at 9am with the Mitey Mites followed by the JR Pee Wees at 11am, the Pee Wees at 1pm, the JR Midgets at 3pm and the Midgets at 5pm.  Come out and show your support for the Rams Youth football players and cheerleaders!  GO RAMS!!
