City of Dixon offers Lifeguard Training Course during Spring Break

The City of Dixon’s Recreation Division is offering American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Blended Learning class with Title 22 at the Pat Granucci Aquatic Center during Spring Break (4/6/15-4/10/15). This course can certify participants in American Red Cross Lifeguard training, First Aid, CPR/AED for Lifeguards and First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22). This course combines online learning and with on-site skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency.

To enroll, students must be at least 15 years old and be able to swim 300 yards continuously using each of the following strokes for at least 100 yards: crawl, breaststroke and stroke of your choice; swim 20 yards following a feet-first surface dive in a minimum of seven feet of water to retrieve a 10-pound object and swim back 20 yards with the object and jump onto the pool deck within a minute and 40 seconds; and tread water for two minutes using only your legs.

The cost of American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Blended Learning with Title 22 course is $180. Those interested in a summer job with the City of Dixon and are hired will be reimbursed for the cost of the course only, upon completion of summer employment.
