You're Invited to a Birthday Party

Dixon Patch turns a year old on Friday Nov. 18, 2011, and we are hosting a birthday party at the Dixon Chamber of Commerce, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

It’s hard to believe that Dixon Patch is turning a year old. When we began this Patch on Nov. 18, 2010, we had no idea how it would do.

The spirit of the Patch was, and still is, to create something from the ground up that with the community’s help would grow into a place on the net where people get their news and a whole lot more.

We wanted to make something that would be fun, cutting edge, tell the stories of Dixon while incorporating a lot of the technology that is available. We wanted to break the mold of the traditional, one-way communication that so many newspapers are stuck in.

We wanted you, the people of Dixon, to tell us what type of news you wanted to see on the site. We wanted to be a community forum, where conversations would begin and end with the users of the Patch dictating what the important topics are.

We wanted to create a site that was easy enough for the most technically-challenged person to participate by commenting on stories, posting events and announcements, posting photos or sending news tips to the Patch.

It’s almost been a year now and we’ve heard nothing but good things about the way that we do things in the community and this is because of you.

To show our appreciation, we would like to invite you to join us as we host a birthday party for Dixon Patch on Friday, Nov. 18, at the building, 220 North Jefferson St., 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Stop by, enjoy some free coffee and pastries, and meet the editor and others who make the Dixon Patch go. We’ll see you there!

RSVP for this birthday party by commenting on the story!
