Readers' Choice Best Place to Drink a Cocktail: Dixon Veterans Hall

The readers of Dixon Patch have spoke through their poll votes and comments and have selected the Dixon Veterans Hall as the best place in town to get a cocktail.

When it comes to taking a load off and having a cocktail, the along North First Street is the best place to do so, say the readers of Dixon Patch.

Through their poll votes, and comments, readers of the Patch have selected the popular venue as the best place to drink a cocktail.

Part of the reason the Vet's Hall has attained this honor is its bartender, Brit Delwiche, said Greg Coppes, American Legion commander.

"It's really a compliment to Brit," Coppes said. "Brit can make just about anything."

Coppes said that Delwiche has yet to be stumped on a drink, but it doesn't stop people from trying to, even if they make things up. But Delwiche's skills at making cocktails save him from being stumped.

Another aspect of the Vet's Hall that people seem to enjoy is live entertainment every Friday, Coppes said. Today, the Vet's Hall will host Kiss N Tell, for no cover charge. The Vet's Hall also hosts a zero-cover-charge karaoke on Fridays when a live band is not performing, Coppes said.

Asked why people like the cocktails at the Vet's Hall, Coppes said: "I think it's mostly the good, cheap drinks and the atmosphere. The bar area, it’s a clean and robust area."

Dixon Patch congratulates the Dixon Veterans Hall on winning this week's category. Check out the rest of the winners by clicking here.

Next week we will be hosting an online battle of the bands. SO who is your favorite band in Dixon? Who would you like to see in the running?

Didn't O'Reilly's just close on the other side of town? There's a 'for lease' sign on the building.

Great to see the 4th graders getting ready for their 5th grade camp at Alliance Redwoods. I took myRead More 6th graders there for many years and Alliance has an outstanding program that keeps the kids focused on environmental education and stewardship. The night hike through the redwoods was always their favorite (along with the zip line). Note: No need to bring snacks as the dining hall meals has everything you will need, but you may want to bring some extra money for the gift shop. Dan Mattingly/Retired Teacher

Thanks for the post Dean. The Dixon VFW has contributed several thousand dollars so far to bothRead More homes in Dixon and will be contributing a lot more in the future for these Vets. The housing program is managed by the North Bay Coummity Action Council (formerly known as the Fairfield/Suisun CAC). The Vets are very grateful for all the community support.
