Local Walnut Farm Referenced on Saturday Night Live

Dixon Ridge Farms was the subject of a Weekend Update joke on last Saturday's episode of Saturday Night Live.

We ran a story last month about Dixon Ridge Farms -- a local farm that turns its excess walnut shells into fuel, which is then used to power the farm. You can see some great photos of the farm in action in this blog post by Bil Paul. 

That farm, owned by Russ Lester, was the product of a quick joke on Saturday Night Live last weekend. If you'd like to see the joke for yourself, a link to the episode is below.

Here's the joke. It's less funny in writing:  

"A California farmer has begun powering his farm using leftover walnut shells," said Seth Meyers. "If you're wondering what farm it is... it's the one with no power."
