Liquidation Sales Started at Eight OSH Stores Including Two in Solano County

The bankrupt retailer wanted the sales to happen in conjunction with the Fourth of July holiday.

Orchard Supply Hardware has received permission from a Federal Bankruptcy court in Delaware to begin liquidation sales at eight of its stores located in California including two in Solano County.

The home improvement retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after sales dropped off 21 percent during the economic downturn.

The liquidation sales will take place at Orchard Supply Hardware stores in Citrus Heights, Huntington Beach, Lone Tree, Long Beach, Midtown (Los Angeles), Newark, Vacaville and Fairfield.

The Vacaville store is located at 220 Peabody Road and the Fairfield store is at 1500 Oliver Road.

A Business Wire story reports that Great American Group, Inc. has been selected to manage the asset liquidation at the eight stores.  The court has given Orchard Supply the option to hold liquidation sales at another 22 stores before July 31, 2013.

Lowe’s has offered to buy 60 of the 91 stores owned by San Jose based Orchard Supply.
