Farmers' Market Kicks Off in Downtown Dixon

The opening Saturday of the Dixon Farmers' Market brought fresh produce and a few surprises to Women's Improvement Club Park

The Dixon Farmers' Market kicked off at Women's Improvement Club Park last Saturday, showcasing farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as unique items for sale. 

Opening day of the market was held in conjunction with the that brought thousands of visitors and locals alike to Downtown Dixon. But many of the farmers and vendors felt that the viability of the market will depend on people supporting it without having an event like the parade drawing them in.

Shoppers can benefit from purchasing freshly-picked strawberries, artichokes, cherries, onions and a variety of other fruits and vegetables without having to travel outside of town. Farmers also benefit from the market by offering their goods to shoppers who might not have heard about their farms otherwise.
