Business Buzz: Two Storage Units Hosting Auctions Soon

Cheri Drysdale, Independent Consultant for Essential Oils, had a nice turn out for her Ribbon Cutting and received a warm welcome to Dixon business by Chamber President Bert Gaulke.  She got some helping hands with providing a delicious lunch by from owners, Cher Besneatte and Dorothy Luedke.

Just a reminder that this Saturday, Sept. 10, 1-5 p.m. is the ‘Bottle Your Own Wine’ event at , 6496 Jones Lane off Highway 113 and about a half mile past Superior Meat Packing Company. Jess and Mary Ellen Jones say you’ll get to sample and choose your own wine, then fill, cork, cap, and label your own bottles. Cost is $10 and $7 per bottle of Blushes or Chardonnays and $10 per bottle for red wines or blends. They assure it will be a fun experience with delicious food, and great company. has announced their next live auction will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 16. Manager Carol Parker reports that these sales occur about every three months and this one will have the contents of four units.

“We work with the tenants the best we can but this is the unfortunate side of the business,” she said. Sometimes people cannot be found or people stop paying, she said. There will be a live auctioneer from Storage Auction and she reports that is also having an auction the same day at 10 a.m.

Mobile Reiki Therapy is now offered to Dixonites through Angela Ramos, who just earned her Reiki Master/Teacher honor and has started her own mobile practice serving Dixon and Davis.

Reiki is a Japanese alternative healing method, which helps promote the body’s natural healing abilities, she said. Angela started learning the art of Reiki at the Massage and Therapy Institute in Davis but reports she has been interested in the spiritual side of healing since she was 15. She has since climbed up the ladders of training, receiving the Masters/Teacher in India where the art is highly regarded.

“The belief behind Reiki is that every living being is surrounded by an energy field,” she said. “The belief is that negative thought patterns can create blockages that do not allow the natural energy flow--that can make people stressed, tired, or in pain.”

Unlike the physical touch of more traditional massage, Reiki does not necessarily need to have physical contact at all.

“It depends on each client. The Reiki technique helps to break through the blockages and bring balance back to the body," she said. “I only do outcalls so that means I go to the client’s (place) and I only work on female clients unless the session is conducted in a nursing home or in a hospice setting or a public place. I also work on animals in their homes or on the farms.”

The Little Hero/Firefighter is a darling setting for a little hero to be wrapped in authentic firefighter turnout gear and boots, complete with fire hose and fire truck. The portraits can be scheduled for Sept. 16 and 18 and costs $50 per session, which includes a 5x7, print with additional packages starting at $99.

The other setting that is back by popular demand is the Enchanted Forest/Fairies setting. It is available on one day only, Saturday, Oct. 1. This session is perfect for little girls or the little girl in you, said Rose Koogler. The studio supplies the costumes, wings and the magic. There are special effects to help make the fantasy last forever and cost only $45 per session with packages also starting at $99.
