Chamber Welcomes Two; Holiday Open House Happens

This Friday, November 18, at 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the , the Dixon Patch online newspaper will be celebrating its first anniversary. Refreshments will be served and a host of Patch staff--–both local and regional—will be on hand to greet you including Editor Carlos Villatoro.

Also on this Friday is the Grand Opening for at 1660 North Lincoln, Suite A. There will be free samples, a barbecue, and a drawing for a free leg of lamb during the day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Martin and Jeanine Emigh of MJ Livestock open this unique new store that gives the look of Italy in Dixon. They will carry naturally grown lamb and beef produced in the Dixon and Rio Vista Ag lands. They offer Petaluma Poultry, pork, Linguisa, salami, cheeses, dips, honey and olive oil. Unique gourmet food items, serving dishes, accessories, and products from Portugal, Spain and Italy will also be part of their inventory.

Downtown Hosts Holiday Open House

This weekend is the Holiday Open House with many of the merchants offering refreshments or specials for Christmas shoppers into the evening.

annual Holiday Fantasy will start at 3 p.m.—a little earlier than traditional. The Dixon Florist will offer music and refreshments until 7 p.m. and will open on Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. again.

The special time was arranged so shoppers, who attend the , which begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. at , can come right over afterwards to the florist. The cost for the Soroptimist Christmas Boutique is $15 and includes a buffet lunch with proceeds going back into the community.

Lorente Productions Struts Stuff

Steve and Suzanne Lorente moved to Dixon a couple years ago, relocating their huge sound and lighting equipment business more centrally to their many clients. Suzanne's Music is the other half to their music equation.

They easily sunk into the activities of Dixon providing sound, stage, and lighting to the , the event, , , , , and more.

After Thanksgiving and on Tuesday, November 29, they’ll show off a little by spicing up their Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Dixon Chamber of Commerce, 220 North Jackson Street at 10 a.m. KUIC FM will air the celebration live and provide delicious pastries and flavorful hot coffee.

“We’re going to have music and offer sparkling apple cider in commemorative etched wine goblets that were done by Rich and Jan Hardy of Ideas Unique,” said Steve Lorente. “We felt welcomed into the community  so we want people to come down for the party. No one throws a party like Lorente Productions,” he said.

There will also be live music presented by Suzanne.

"I will be singing some familiar Christmas songs," she said. "I want people to know I am available to book for their Christmas parties since live music creates that very special holiday ambiance like no other."

Dixon Dance Studio Does Gift Fair

The staff and families of the have coordinated a Holiday Gift Fair on Saturday, December 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1910 North Lincoln Street, next to . They are raising funds to support their Production Team, which is planning to attend the LA DanceMagic Dance Convention in the spring.

Their crafters will offer vintage-inspired jewelry, ornaments, tablecloths, and hairpieces. There will also be a selection of glitter tattoos, decals, photo gifts, and even skin care products. There will also be sales from Vault Denim, Gigi Hill Bags, Pampered Chef, Silpada Jewelry, Gold Canyon, and Tupperware.

Pictures with Santa will be taken from 10 a.m. to noon and again from 1:30-3:30 p.m. not to mention a “Reindeer Drop Off Kids Craft Fundraiser” where children can have fun making a holiday craft while parents shop. There will even be a bake sale and plenty of raffle prizes so you won’t want to miss this day. 

Front2Back Customizes for Businesses

Also joining the Chamber thi past week was Front2Back Designs, a company owned by Dionne and Charles McCullar, that specializes in marketing products and customizing shirts, bags, etc. It was a great turn out and you can learn more about their many products by going to www.Front2BackDesigns.com.
