Ary Lane Businesses Refresh Their Looks

McDonald's, Pizza Guys, and IHOP Take On Summer

Summer apparently has served as a good time to make improvements at a few Ary Lane businesses. The Dixon McDonald's, for one, added permanent brightly colored tables and chairs to their outdoor patio area and will soon add shading. Until then, however, plenty of families have already been spotted enjoying the summer evenings there with McDonald’s inexpensive soft serve ice cream cones and hot fudge sundaes.

You can’t miss Chevy’s when passing near the Pitt School Road exit anymore as the Fresh Mex Restaurant got its bright colors back almost overnight. The building’s paint job of sunflower gold, purple, and red was done over a period of about four days, according to staff.

Pizza Guys was not to be left out. Although the plans have been in the making for two years, the details finally got worked out and it all began just over a week ago but no worry-- they are still open and selling pizza. The building is getting a major overhaul inside and outside and it’s helping to build morale as well.

“A lot of the employees are really excited about [the remodel] and both me and my manager are, too,” said Chris Sliger, Assistant Manger. The timing is ripe, he said, since Pizza Guys just signed on to be the official pizza for the Sacramento Kings.

“Corporate will be planning a grand re-opening and we hope to have a couple players and a couple cheerleaders here for that,” Sliger said. In the meantime, the workers got busy ripping off the old wood and creating a new facade plus they added an outdoor patio.  The company is also remodeling their restrooms.

“We’re completely re-doing the outside including the roof,” said Sliger. “We’re changing colors to mostly white, some green, and some black and then completely changing the entire look of the dining area—to be a black and white color-scheme with a new counter, buffet table and salad bar.” Instead of the three big televisions that they had, they’re going to have a wall in the center of the dining area with televisions on either side.

“There will be six 42-inch flat-screen TVs,” Sliger said with enthusiasm. “We’re going to be the place to be in Dixon.” According to the Dixon General Manager Mike Jaimes, the improvements are to be completed by the end of August.

IHOP is taking advantage of the extra attention by hanging a new banner out front of it’s pancake restaurant touting that children can eat free from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. any day of the week. The restrictions that apply are that the child has to be under 12 and for each free meal, there has to be one paid adult entrée.

“We’ve had it in the past but now it’s official,” said Assistant. Manager Alex Marmolejo.
