Bird and Castanon Sworn In as New Council Members

New faces on Dixon's city council will help shape Dixon's future.

In front of friends, family and relatives filling Dixon's council chambers, Steve Bird and Jerry Castanon, Sr. were sworn in as Dixon's new city council members Tuesday evening at a regular council meeting. This followed a reception in the city hall lobby.

Incumbent mayor Jack Batchelor was also sworn in to continue in that position.

Bird, Castanon and Batchelor will serve four-year terms.

Departing from the council are Rick Fuller and Mike Ceremello.

In one vote during the regular council meeting which followed the swearing-in, council members Besneatte, Castanon and Batchelor voted for a resolution tied to the Safe Routes to School Plan Update, and inclusion of the plan in the Solano Transportation Authority's Countywide Safe Routes to School Plan. Voting against it were council members Bogue and Bird. Apparently associated with the plan is the projected B Street pedestrian railroad undercrossing, for which some funding has been awarded.
