Are you looking for something nearby to do this weekend? Check out some of the cool things on the Dixon Patch Events Calendar and see if there's something that interests you.

Friday:

presents the second annual "Battle of the Bands."
Tonight is the final night of the six shows, which gives one of these bands a shot at the grand prize. Winners for each round were voted in by the audience at the end of previous shows and the grand prize money is dictated by the turn out throughout the six shows. The first Battle of the Bands was won by Your Second Chance with a grand prize of $400. Tonight’s bands are: Crush the Adversary, There Came a Day, and June Breaks Bright.
If you go: Cornerstone Baptist Church is located at 185 W. Cherry St., in Dixon.  The show is from 7 pm-10:30 pm. and price is $5.00.

Saturday:

Come out and check out these custom and classic cars. The show, organized by Leadership Club features a raffle as well as food for sale.  Proceeds from the event will go towards purchasing a marquee in front of the school.  Support Prairie High School and its students by coming over and seeing these beautiful cars.

If you go: Maine Prairie High School is located at 305 E. C Street in Dixon.  The show is from 9-2 pm. For more information  call Tim at 916-417-4205.

Sunday:

Help build an airplane, learn to design anything from websites to skyscrapers. See a photography exhibit, a Cordelia fire truck, a CHP helicopter, learn to properly plant a garden, and discover why green jobs are all the rage. Hands on activities galore! Chance to win great prizes. Munch on free popcorn, enjoy a BBQ by the student leadership and spend the day learning how and why the career education fields are a great choice!
If you go: Solano Community College is located at 4000 Suisun Valley Rd. in Fairfield. The fair is from 10-3pm and is free.

Sunday: Cinco de Mayo Festivities at St. Peter's Catholic Church

The whole family is invited to attend St. Peter's Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration. Food, music, acitivites for the children and a bit of Viva Mexico! This events marks the Battle of Puebla, when a group of poorly-equipped Mexicans beat an invading French Army. Free and open to the public. The church is located at 105 S. Second St. Festivities start at noon and go until 8 p.m.
If you go: In the interest of making this a fun, family event, no alcohol will be served!

Sunday:

Enjoy bands, music, choirs and food at this great event Sunday. The music festival will showcase Dixon's best and brightest musicians and will serve as a fundraiser for the . The event goes from 2-6 p.m., Adults $10 donation, Children 11 and under $5 donation. The church is located at 208 S. Jefferson St.
If you go: Be prepared to be blown away by the level of talent displayed by the musicians who will participate in this event.
