Life Under Water Walk Today at Lake Solano

Come out for some fun on this unique walk that will give walkers a glimpse of water plants and bugs. The walk is scheduled for today, 10 a.m., to noon at Lake Solano Park

Learn about life under water this Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m., to noon at Lake Solano Park.

Explore an interactive display of fascinating water plants and bugs. Grab one of the many magnifying lenses provided to observe the colors, shapes and movements of aquatic life in exquisite detail.

Then walk with volunteers Frank Morris and Nancy Campbell along the shoreline and discuss the fascinating animals -- bugs, fish, reptiles, rodents, birds and mammals -- and plants that spend their time in the water at Lake Solano!

Morris is a water expert who will bring the lake to life, and Campbell will share her passion for wildlife and her insights from years in veterinary medicine. 

 Guided tours of Lake Solano Park are offered from 10 a.m., to noon on the second Saturdays and fourth Sundays of each month, now through the end of October. These tours are a great opportunity to have fun, learn, and get healthy exercise. Participants should carry water and snacks with them.

They should be prepared for variable trail conditions and weather by bringing layered clothes, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and protection from sun, and the chance of wind, fog, or rain.

A camera and binoculars are also recommended.  Guests can continue to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife at Lake Solano Park by picnicking for the day, or renting a campsite for the weekend on a first-come, first-served basis.

The tour will begin in the courtyard next to the Lake Solano Park Nature Center at 8685 Pleasants Valley Road Winters, CA.
