From Dixon High School's first Hall of Fame Inductees and Cool Patch Pumpkins to Shakespeare and a weekend celebrating jazz, we have you covered.

Friday:

The first class of inductees to the Hall of Fame will be announced between the JV and Varsity football games tonight at Dixon High School Stadium.

If you go: The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Varsity game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Dixon High School, 555 College Way in Dixon.

Friday is opening day at Cool Patch Pumpkins!  Labeled as "The Coolest Maze on the Planet," this year's mind-twister will not disappoint. At 45 acres, this corn maze is nearly two acres larger than the 2009 layout. There's plenty of activities for everyone in the family, including an African Grass maze for the little ones, the ever popular Corn Bath quicksand pit, wagon rides, pedal carts, an Indian village complete with tepees, a fully stocked refreshment stand with specialty coffee drinks, sandwiches and candy, and endless varieties of awesome pumpkins. If you go: Admission is $10.00 for adults,$6.00 for children and free for children 5 and under. All tickets starting at 6 p.m. are $10 (children under 5 are still free). No strollers or wagons are allowed in the maze. When going through the maze at night guests should carry a flashlight and wear warm clothing. The Hay rides are $3.00.The pumpkin patch is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Nov. 6.  Cool Patch Pumpkins is at 6585 Milk Farm Road in Dixon.

 

Thursday-Sunday

Davis Shakespeare Ensemble kicks off its second season with Shakespeare's most magical comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream. The human and fairy worlds collide in this hilarious and enchanted adventure through the forest inspired by what makes Davis one-of-a-kind -- bicycles!

Davis Shakespeare Ensemble is a new theatre company that presents full-length Shakespearean productions and educational workshops to communities in Davis and Yolo County. We are committed to producing shows in unconventional theatrical spaces and work in collaboration with the UC Davis Arboretum to present Shakespeare's works in a unique and exciting outdoor setting.

If you go: Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and $5 for children 12 and under. 9/15: Preview Performance ($5 off all tickets), 9/16 is opening night, followed by Gala at a local Davis restaurant. The performances take place at UC Davis Arboretum Gazebo on 1 Garrod Drive in Davis.

 

Friday-Sunday:

The 12th annual Vacaville Jazz Festival is back with over 30 musical groups performing throughout the weekend in Town Square, Downtown, and at the Nut Tree. Music genres include Latin, Big Band, Gospel, and Dixieland jazz. Hosted by the Vacaville Jazz Society, the musical extravaganza begins with a performance from Keith Stout’s AMO Combo at Town Square Library.  Saturday is “World Jubilee Day,” continuing with a Gospel Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Vacaville on Sunday with Bill Bachmann’s American Heritage Band performing a Jazz Mass.
