Dixon Weekend Planner June 17-19

Are you looking for something nearby to do this weekend? Check out some of the things on the Dixon Events Calendar and see if there's something for you.

Saturday:  

Don’t you just love a bargain? Here’s an opportunity to browse through hidden treasures. Or maybe you need to clean out those closets and garages? Spaces are being sold at the Davis Senior Center. The cost of a space is $15.00 per two parking stalls, and spaces may be shared. You may even pick your selling space. The number of spaces are limited, so register early. Spaces have sold out in the past for this fun event!
If you go: The sale is from 8 a.m. to noon at the Davis Senior Center, 646 A street in Davis.

Saturday:

Hailed as “the greatest large jazz ensemble working today” by the Chicago Tribune, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is composed of 15 leading jazz soloists under the leadership of musical director Wynton Marsalis. Drawing from an extensive repertoire that includes original compositions by Marsalis, Ted Nash and other members of the orchestra as well as tunes by Chick Corea, Thelonious Monk, songs of the Jazz Age and classic Blue Note Records selections, the group represents the vigor and vision of America’s classical music.
If you go: Tickets range from $17.50 to $68 and can be bought here. The show starts at 8 pm. at  the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, 9399 Old Davis Rd. in Davis.

Saturday:

The public is invited to the Putah Creek Trout Annual Fundraiser, featuring wine varietals from local and regional wineries. There will be opportunities to bid on or purchase bottles of the featured tasting varietals. The first tasting glass is included with ticket purchase; additional classes are $5 each.  Members of Off the Hook Guide Service will be conducting fly casting clinics and competitions for all levels of skill. The activity is free and equipment is provided.
Our featured raffle item is the mahogany wood pram hand built by Master Wood Carver, James Haan.  $10 tickets are available at the event or online on our home page at http://www.putahcreektrout.org where the pram can be viewed.
There are over 40 high quality silent auction items, including guided fishing trips to regional waters, Orvis switch rod and reels, a rebuilt vintage bamboo rod, and more will be available as well as numerous raffle items including gift certificates to regional fly shops, local restaurants, and much more.

If you go: Please RSVP: Due to Solano County’s policies regarding alcohol use at the facility we request those planning to attend to RSVP with your name and number attending to: www.rsvp@putahcreektrout.org. Admission (one glass of wine included) is $20 with an additional $5 parking fee. The event is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Lake Solano Nature Center, 8685 Pleasants Valley Road in Vacaville. Lake Solano Nature Center is situated about 6 miles west of Winters on Highway 128.
