Dixon Weekend Planner August 5-7

Are you looking for something to do this weekend? Check out what's going on in the Dixon calendar.

Friday:

Come on over for a delicious lemon chicken dinner at the Moose Lodge.  The dinner includes a chicken breast stuffed with asparagus and cheese and served with a green salad, tri-colored pasta, vegetable and roll.  The Moose Lodge supports Mooseheart and Moosehaven as well as many local events and charities.

If you go: The cost of the dinner is $8.50 and starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Dixon  Moose Lodge,180 W B Street in Dixon.

Friday:

The CreekWalk evenings are a great place for everyone to have fun and relax. Bring the kids, family and friends over to this fun summer series in Vacaville. This week's band, Innersoul is a sophisticated R&B / Sacramento Old School dance band whose soulfully artistic renditions of R&B and Latin dance classics arouse dancers of all musical persuasions. The Sacramento dance band creates soulful dance grooves that are pure emotional fire!

If you go: The concert is from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Andrews Park, on Davis Street in downtown Vacaville. Remember to pack a blanket, chairs, a picnic and non-alcoholic drinks, vendors are also available with cold drinks, food and desserts for purchase.

 

Saturday:

You’re invited to Smokey Bear’s birthday party!  Come to Lake Solano on Saturday. It will be a morning full of exciting, hands-on activities. Children and the young at heart will be delighted to meet Smokey in person, and all ages will be excited for a firefighting “show and tell.” This show and tell will include a fire engine, how to stop, drop and roll, and maybe even how to squirt the fire hose. Happy Birthday Smokey, you rock!

If you go: This free event lasts about an hour and starts at 10 a.m. at Lake Solano, located four miles west of Winters, just off State Highway 128.  Parking costs $5 a car.

 

Friday-Sunday:

Friends of the Davis Public Library will be having its book sale beginning at noon Friday. Check out the great selection and deals on hardback and paperback books, CD's, DVD's and tapes available. Great prices too and Sunday is bag day, fill it up for only $5.  What a great deal!

If you go: Friday’s sale from noon to 2 p.m. is for members only (you can join at the door if you’re so inclined).The sale is open to the general public  from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

 

Saturday:

A free fun-filled day of gospel, food, kids jumper, popcorn, school supplies, health & wellness info., music, dancers etc. Come out and celebrate with at this annual event.

If you go: This free event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Northwest Park, W H Street & N Almond Street in Dixon.

 

Saturday:

The Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District (DVBID) is fired up and hot to host the 4th Annual Downtown Vacaville Rib & Chili Challenge Cook Off.  Each contestant prepares their own "secret" recipe  in the morning and judging takes place in the afternoon (that goes for ribs too)! Music begins at 9:30 a.m. with Amber Snider, followed by the Kevin Beadles Band at 11:30, Throwing Roses at 2 p.m. and the Terry Sheets band at 4:30 p.m. The day wraps up with 48 Straight taking the stage from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

If you go: The cook-off and concert is from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on One Town Square in downtown Vacaville.
