Dixon Dance Team Hosts Holiday Shopping Fair

Dixon Dance Studio students are trying to get their production team to the anticipated LA DanceMagic Convention in Southern California and are hoping holiday shoppers will help them get there. A Holiday Craft Fair is slated for this coming Saturday, December 3 at 1910 North Lincoln in Dixon.

“LA Dance is a renowned dance convention with instructors that are nationally recognized and is run by people who work in the entertainment industry including ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ It is an amazingly positive experience,” said Rena Santa Cruz, mother of one of the production team member. “They learn lots of different styles of dance. They have an opportunity to audition for future scholarships and it is like a second Christmas for our girls.” There will be about 35 Dixon Dance girls that will be attending the convention, which is the company’s entire production team, she said.

“The experience requires a two-night stay at the hotel plus the traveling so it can be expensive,” she said. That is why she and another mother thought of the idea for the holiday fundraiser.

From 10 am to 4 pm, there will be vintage-inspired jewelry, ornaments, tablecloths, hairpieces along with hair feathers, glitter tattoos, decals, photo gifts, and even skin care products for sale.

Vault Denim, Gigi Hill Bags, Pampered Chefs, Silpada Jewelry, Gold Canyon Candles, and Tupperware vendors will be participating for easy shopping. The dance team will also offer a crafts fundraiser for children where parents may drop off their children while they are shopping at the fair.

“We wanted to give the team an opportunity to earn their money,” said Santa Cruz. “The girls will be working at the event and every girl and every family will be there to help. Plus, all the vendors are from this area so it helps keep the money local.”

The group will also be selling baked goods and have raffle prizes all during numerous dance performances throughout the day. Dixon Dance was awarded the 2008 Business of the Year award by the Dixon Chamber of Commerce and the Spirit of Solano Award in 2009. For more information, call (707) 678-8881
