UPDATE: FATALITY! Westbound I-80 Backing Up from Injury Crash in Vacaville

This marks the fifth fatal accident -- totalling six deaths -- in the past nine days in Napa, Sonoma and Solano counties.

UPDATE: Sunday, March 23, 6:25 p.m.

One person was killed in a crash on Interstate Highway 80 in Vacaville this afternoon, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was first reported on westbound Highway 80 near Cherry Glen Road at about 3:45 p.m., CHP Officer Ogilvy said.

A vehicle overturned near an off-ramp and crashed into a tree, Ogilvy said.

One person inside the vehicle was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Ogilvy said.

Emergency responders had a right lane closed on Highway 80 for nearly two hours, according to the CHP.

All lanes reopened at about 5:40 p.m., though heavy traffic was reported for at least two miles behind the crash.

An Emeryville man, 60, died Friday, March 21, in a solo crash on I-80 on the Napa and Solano county border.

A Napa Woman, 26, was killed Tuesday, March 18 in a head-on crash on Silverado Trail, that sent two others to the hospital.

And a Healdsburg woman, 50, died in a solo-vehicle crash Wednesday, March 19 near Geyserville.

On Saturday, March 15, a Rohnert Park man, 30, rear-ended a car, killing two women in the back seat and was arrested for suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI.

The California Highway Patrol has shut down one lane of Interstate Highway 80 in Vacaville due to an injury crash, an officer said.

Officers responded to a crash involving a vehicle that overturned and collided with a tree near Cherry Glen Road and westbound Highway 80 at about 3:45 p.m., CHP Officer Ron Simmons said.

One person was injured and possibly trapped inside the vehicle, Simmons said. Emergency responders have shut down a far right lane and traffic was backing up for about two miles, he said.

A Sig-alert was issued at 4:03 p.m.
