3.1 Magnitude Earthquake Near Suisun City Friday Morning

A 3.1-magnitude earthquake was reported this morning in Fairfield, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake was reported at 9:38 a.m. and had a depth of 8.0 miles.

The quake was centered a mile southwest of central Fairfield, according to the USGS.

Consider that Allendale is our nearest known fault capable of producing a 7 and we have not felt it in over 100 years....we are due.

I felt it, one hard shudder and that was it. Gart that information about the Allendale fault is a little scary!

I came across the same article a few years ago--I have no idea what I was looking for--after I read it, we called our insurance agent and bought earthquake coverage. Hopefully we'll never need it, but the peace of mind is well worth the additional few dollars.
