Teen Center Nets $10,400 from Pinball Fundraiser

Check Awarded at Chamber Mixer

Members of the Dixon Teen Center's Board of Directors got a nice surprise at last night's Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer. The organizers of the pinball fundraiser that was held in May was on hand to present handed Kevin Johnson, Kay Cayler, Jamie Myers, and Jennie Bauman a very big check with a whopping amount of $10,400.

"We knew they were going to give us a check but we didn't know how much," said Jennie Bauman who is the organization's Treasurer. "It was very exicitng because it was an unexpected event. It was above and beyond because it was not a planned fundriaser in the first place and then for it to be so much more above and beyond...well, it was just great!"

The group approached the Dixon Teen Center this past spring and offered to host the event on the teen center's behalf, giving them all proceeds. The event ran over several days at the Dixon May Fair with a minimal admission fee. The volunteers for the Center sold refreshments and helped man the event.

"We're really focusing on being open for after school programs That ismost likely where the money will go," she said. Approximately 70 to 100 teens are at the center every Friday and Saturday night.
