Polling locations are needed in all cities in Solano County.

“In the past several years we have lost numerous polling place options, and others are not available this June,” said Assistant Registrar of Voters Lindsey McWilliams.

The consolidation of students to fewer campuses and the closing of school sites have further reduced county polling place options, he said.

Potential polling locations must meet federal and state accessibility standards.  Registrar of Voters staff will survey sites to confirm accessibility or determine whether they can be made accessible for a polling place. A polling place typically is 900 square feet (30 feet by 30 feet) or larger.

The poll workers will need access to the facility on Election Day from approximately 6 a.m. until all precinct accounting is complete after the close of the polls, which is generally complete by 9:30 p.m.  The facility also needs to be available prior to the election for the delivery of election supplies.

The Registrar provides up to $50 for the use of the facility for the day.

People interested in hosting a polling location should contact the Registrar of Voters office at 784-6675 or email elections@solanocounty.com.
