The readers of Dixon Patch have spoken and they have named Force of Habit as the best band in Dixon.

It's all about Force of Habit say the readers of Dixon Patch. Through their comments and poll votes, they have chosen Force of Habit as Readers' Choice Best Band.

"There’s a lot of good bands around here covering tons of genres," said Ryan Mendisco, the band's drummer. "It’s a good variety. So it's pretty cool out of all of them that we were chosen."

"It’s hard… because every song varies," he said. "We have more mainstream-type music and we have harder music. I would say hard rock, different people say other things."

Force of Habit's musical chemistry is tight enough for the band to compose songs within an hour of one of their guitarists introducing a riff to the band, says Mendisco. Most of the songs deal with karma, "You get what's coming to you," Mendisco said.

The band completed an EP back in June 2011 and has been playing venues including the , the , The Boardwalk and Ace of Spades. Force of Habit has shared the stage with many fellow local bands and big-name acts such as Smile Empty Soul.

Looking at the band's influences, it's no surprise why this band rocks so hard, say the readers of Dixon Patch. Their influences is a list of who's who in the world of rock/heavy metal including AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Godsmack, Lynard Skynard, Megadeth, Poison and Black Sabbath.

Mendisco said that the band's fans and supporters make it all worthwhile.

"The fact that they are really loyal and they support us," he said. "When they come up to Sacramento with us we'll caravan with a bunch of people, all of our fans will come up as a whole and leave as a whole. They are really good."

Force of Habit began in Dixon, but has quickly earned a reputation among their fans and the bands that they share the stage with as a band that's destined for great things.

What's next for the band?

"Definitely this year we are going to be playing some bigger shows and hopefully within the next couple of months go back in and record another EP or another album," Mendisco said. "And hopefully if all goes well, release it on iTunes and release it on Amazon."
