Happy Birthday, Linde Lane Tea Room

Mother-daughter team turns massage into 'Art of Touch'

Celebrating its one-year anniversary is the Linde Lane Tea Room in Downtown Dixon. Surprising not only local residents with its lavish décor and eccentric menu of fine teas and petite scones, the business keeps growing by drawing tea connoisseurs from far and wide.

“It definitely exceeded our expectations as the months progressed,” said Tea Room Hostess Sarah Niehoff who logs all the reservations by area codes. “We expanded to a lot of different cities and we’ve drawn more from 916 and 530 area codes,” she said, especially after the business ran a Groupon coupon, attracting 800 ticket sales in only four days.

It is no wonder the upcoming birthday celebration is sold out. At a ticket price of $28 for adults, the party will be complete with games, prizes, favors, and charms for each guest--all coordinated by Dr. Kristina Wiley.

“The owner plans everything so much of it is a surprise,” said Niehoff who worked at Disneyland before landing her job at the local tea room.

“I never knew tea houses existed but I’ve learned that people travel all around the country to experience tea rooms,” she said. “I definitely love my job.” The birthday party will be this Sunday at 1 p.m.  but there are other special events regularly planned including a Tea Tasting Extravaganza on September 18. For more information, call (707) 693-8327 or go by the tea room at 140 North Jackson in Dixon. It is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In other business news, a mother and her daughter joined together to bring Dixon the ‘Art of Touch,’ a massage business. Margaret and Samantha Stake decorated their attractive space next door to the Downtown Dixon Business Association in Suite 1 at 165 East A Street and across from the Dixon Florist. More information will be posted soon about their Grand Opening.

Just a side note about the family enjoying Dixon--Margaret’s son, Robert, recently won an award at the DDBA’s Grillin’ and Chillin’ Rib and Chili Cook-off for his outstanding chili recipe which Margaret helped create.

Speaking of DDBA, some folks might have forgotten that the Farmer’s Market is still going on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Women’s Improvement Club Park next to the public library.

Fresh produce--along with a variety of gifts and specialty foods--is available from several local farmers and vendors. Susan Motley of Motley Real Estate and Liz Robben of R Grand Gardens are there to answer your questions about future activities or to sell discounted DDBA Wine & Art Stroll tickets. They are $20 each in advance or $25 on the day of the event, which is Saturday, August 27, 4 – 8 p.m. starting in the park, which is a new place for the event to kick off.

Go to downtowndixon.com for more information or better yet, just drop by the park for a visit.
