Mike Ceremello's Property Tax Delinquency Questioned at Forum

Mayoral Candidate Michael Ceremello owes $8,603.72 in property taxes. He was asked about it earlier this month. His answer is below.

Michael Ceremello was targeted twice with questions of his property tax payments during a mayoral candidate forum last week. The loss of sales and property tax revenue in Dixon was a hot topic at the forum, and some audience members were bothered that Ceremello has chosen to not pay his.

Ceremello lives at 1565 McCarthy Court, according to public records provided by the City of Dixon. The Solano County Tax Collector’s website shows that he owes $8,603.72 in property taxes. (The screen grab on the right shows what Ceremello owes).

"You are over $8,000 in arrears in back property taxes," said Former Mayor Mary Ann Courville. "Do you believe this is the leadership example you should be giving to the constituents of this city?"

Here's Ceremello's brief response:

"Mr. Pippo, former Supervisor of Solano County also chose not to pay his taxes; it is upon the person who owns the property when he or she will pay the property taxes, and that's all I'm going to say about it."

An audience member followed by asking the other candidates, Jack Batchelor and Steve Alexander, to disclose the payment history of their tax payments. Both said they have always paid them in full.
